A wine bar designed to delight

What Kristy White wanted
Vancouver-based Kristy White had a clear vision for her new wine bar: a personalized space that offered style, storage, and seating space for friends.
She wanted to showcase both her collection and her style — with a grand art piece backdrop for a visual ‘wow’ for anyone invited to enjoy a glass with her. She reached out to California Closets design consultant Kayla Wojcik to help her bring the vision to life.

How California Closets designed it
Kayla encouraged Kristy to visit the California Closets Burnaby showroom to see the options in real life, which led Kristy to opt for finishes that created a clean and modern foundation. From there, Kayla created the design, which features open, compartmentalized shelving to highlight her wine bottle collection and drawers and closed cabinetry to hide barware and hosting essentials. To further enhance the display, Kayla utilized both upper lights and kick lights for both ambiance and function. Horizontal shelves installed at an angle make the wine display feel both elevated and elegant.

“Bringing Kristy to the Burnaby showroom totally changed her vision for the space — moving from a darker concept to brighter neutrals and specialty hardware.”

Final result
Polished, personal, and warm, the new wine bar is more than just a place to store bottles — it’s a cozy conversation space. Plus, Kristy’s thoughtful decorative choices, like a large painting from a Tofino BC-based artist, add a final layer of character and charm to create a space to be seen — and sipped — in.
