A walk-in closet with 1920s flair for actress Candice King
Candice King, best known for her role as Caroline on “The Vampire Diaries,” spends her day-to-day life in Nashville as a busy mom of two. She recently purchased a new home where the primary walk in needed a total overhaul.
With a busy dual role as mother and actress, her reimagined closet needed to be designed to keep her belongings organized and her mind at ease.
“Candice wanted a custom design that complemented the style of her 1920s home — something with simple character and charm.”
How California Closets did it
Working with the California Closets Nashville team, the project kicked off during Candice’s home renovation. Given her existing closet’s narrow footprint, design consultant Josh Maloch’s biggest challenge was how to creatively maximize and enhance the space to make room for Candice’s vision.
To start, Josh suggested light neutral finishes to invite the serene atmosphere she wanted. Josh also added closed doors and drawers to provide more ample hidden storage, as well as the frosted glass doors, open shoe shelving, and a custom built-in vanity.
Together, they also landed on gold hardware and top-and-bottom crown molding to achieve an elegant and timeless appeal.

Final result
From the motion-activated lighting system to the pullout laundry hamper and jewelry drawers lined in microsuede, every element of Candice’s design reflects her personal style and supports the demands of her busy lifestyle while honoring her home’s 1920s character.
